Today, I read Kyle Bragger’s write-up on Facto, a little project he developed, from concept to launch, in 24 hours. I have to say, it’s pretty impressive. He’s inspired me to take some of my projects into being, instead of keeping them as mere ideas. I think the only thing that bugs me is that I might end up developing something and not having anyone using it. The whole self-promotion thing doesn’t really sit well with me. I keep feeling like I’m being annoying if I promote the things I make. Perhaps 2011 will be the year for me to change that.
Right now, there’s a few apps I’d like to develop, which I haven’t because I keep delaying them, for no reason other than “I don’t have a following yet, no one will care about it”. I crave recognition, and the fact that I’m not known by anyone really bugs me. This is rather irrational, though, as I won’t be able to build a following unless I create awesome things for people to follow and use.
I’m putting this out here in the hope that it’ll give me some sort of incentive to making my ideas happen. I’ll keep you all updated.
P.S. I’ve just realized that I’ve talked with Kyle before, regarding one of his past projects, pat.io. I intended to develop an AIR app for it, but never got around to it, for the aforementioned reason. How coincidental. And how disappointing, to me.
